A Filipino Christmas at Seda Residences Makati’s Tree Lighting Ceremony

Seda Residences Makati recently hosted a heartwarming Christmas celebration to usher in the holiday season. The hotel’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting was an intimate gathering of long-time clientele from embassies and multinational groups, representatives of other Ayala Corporation subsidiaries, media friends, and special guests from local government agencies and the Department of Tourism.

This year's ‘Paskong Pinoy’ theme celebrates the best of Filipino culture, from music and art to delectable cuisine. A Filipiniana Christmas tree, adorned with delicate capiz parols and soft abaca ribbons, graces the hotel lobby. The Christmas Corner by the tree is the perfect spot for holiday photos with Santa Claus dressed in a stylish barong-themed Santa suit and salakot.

The celebration started with Christmas carols played on the bandurya, a plucked string instrument that is a key part of the rondalla, a traditional Filipino orchestra. To inspire hope and invite guests to support a worthy cause, a video presentation showcasing Seda Hotels’ charity partner, Smile Train, was played. A delicious spread of local delicacies also delightfully complemented the Paskong Pinoy atmosphere.

Surprising the guests with their musical prowess was the Philippine Coast Guard, invited to be the special chorale for the evening. The Coast Guard Coast Strategic Studies and International Affairs Center Chorale serenaded the crowd with beloved Filipino Christmas classics like Kumukutikutitap, to more contemporary Christmas love songs like a rendition of Ben & Ben’s ‘Bibingka.’
