MORION'S TRAVEL

Morion's PhotoGallery 101| "Habal-Habal"

Date taken: December 09, 2011
Location   : Asturias, Cebu, Philippines

Habal-habal is a common mode of transportation here in Cebu,  specially in mountainous Barangays wherein roads are not accessible by 4 wheeled public utility vehicles.  It is also called as Skylab in some places particularly in Mindanao.
These photographs were taken while I am on travel going to Tuburan (Cebu) for my weekly Unit Monitoring.
I was amazed how the driver managed to balance the passengers seated on both sides (left and right extension wood) plus the additional weight of the other one at his back.

  2. This is the real habal-habal I heard from the stories of my colleagues who were out for field work. In faraway towns of Rizal and Mindoro, a single motorsiklo (without the improvised side seats) is called habal-habal too.

  17. first time ko narinig about habal habal .it's amazing how the driver manages to balance it .what if the other side has an overweight pasenger against the underweight or normal on the other side.just wondering how much effort the driver will do just to balance it.
