Morion's PhotoTravel Diaries| 30 Minutes Visit to Heritage Park of Oslob, Cebu

"South Cebu's beauty, stories, and nature amazes my senses-  I always feel it's my first time.."

I am staying here in Cebu for almost three years now- as it is required in the nature of my job. I already explored every side even the mountainous part of the province - meaning from South to North, from East to West  as well as the Islands!

Speaking of southern part of the province, town of Oslob ranked number one on my list. It is indeed South Cebu's finest! Whale and dolphin watching, Sumilon Island, white sand beaches and blue water- simply defines the town's beauty and nature.

Newest place to visit in this interesting town is not a beach, not an island resort ...
I am talking about The Heritage Park located along the town's boulevard area - very close to the public beach and just in front of the town's Spanish Colonial Era Church. The park is the location of the hundred years old watchtower ruins called Cuartel, served as prison building during Spanish time - as old as the church.

I really appreciate and salute how the people and government of Oslob protects their natural resources and history.

HOW TO GET THERE
Travel going to the Town of Oslob from Cebu City takes 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours via Bus (Cebu South Bus Terminal) or V-Hire (Citilink).
Bus Lines - Ceres and SunRays, departs at CBST almost every 15 minutes.
Passengers can choose whether ordinary or air-conditioned, and the fare ranges from 100 to 150 pesos.
Ask the driver/conductor to drop you at Oslob's town proper or "Eskina Munisipyo/Pulis Station".
The park is walking distance - 5 minutes walk from the highway/Eskina.

NOTE: Other Ruins of the watchtowers are also located in some Barangays of Oslob - Daan Lungsod and Lagundi, if you still have the time to visit, Go!

  12. Oslob, Cebu? Where's it? North or South of Cebu? I've been to Cebu City for several times. But I never heard or knew about this National Heritage Park of Oslob, Cebu. The relics are comparable to Intramuros in Manila. What a historic place, I love it.

  23. Tnx guys for dropping here,,, since some are interested to visit the place i am going to add "how to get there" portion on this post;) @jonathan: indi nman lng naman cguro s pinas yan, even other countries have tourist destinations na old churches or temples, i dont see any wrong qng dayuhin at ipromote ntn ang mga ganitong lugar kc national heritage to bka tayo lng may mga old structures n ganito and we must be proud kc napepreserve ntn, mas nakakakuha ng attention mas mapoprotektahan against pagkasira,,, i remember nkabasa aq ng post about an old church/structre na considered as one of the oldest na nasira n at napabayaan... We should speak for this national heritage as this is the mirror of who we are now as filipinos... Masarap magkwento sa nxt generation qng makikita nla na nkatayo pa:)
